Dr. Craig Kawaoka is an attending physician at the University of Western States Health Center. Dr. Kawaoka earned his doctor of chiropractic (DC) degree from Southern California University of Health Sciences and has been a clinician and clinical educator for more than 20 years. He earned his Diplomate from the American Chiropractic Board of Sports Physician and Master of Education from Concordia University – Portland. Dr. Kawaoka’s clinical specialties include sports injuries, performance, active care and general practice. He has been a director of sports programs, medical director and team doctor as well as medical staff for various organizations and events in amateur and professional athletics. Dr. Kawaoka has done preclinical, clinical and post-graduate instruction, centering on sports medicine.
Dr. Kawaoka chose the chiropractic profession due to the positive care he received as an athlete and enjoys helping those with neuro-musculoskeletal issues and providing medical advice. Outside of work, he enjoys water-related activities, hiking, working out, traveling and taking advantage of the many eateries, breweries and distilleries in Portland.
